Nov\u00e9 v\u00fdskumy uv\u00e1dzaj\u00fa, \u017ee tak\u00e9to \u201e\u013eadov\u00e9 zemetrasenia\u201c sa teraz objavili po prv\u00fdkr\u00e1t na Antarkt\u00edde na \u013eadovci Thwaites. Tieto pozorovania potvrdzuj\u00fa, \u017ee pl\u00e1vaj\u00faca \u013eadov\u00e1 polica Thwaites sa zhor\u0161uje. Tieto \u013eadov\u00e9 zemetrasenia vrhli svetlo na geometriu Thwaites a preto na jeho bud\u00facu stabilitu. To s\u00fa zl\u00e9 spr\u00e1vy, vedci s\u00fahlasia, preto\u017ee \u013eadovec pom\u00e1ha zadr\u017ea\u0165 Z\u00e1padn\u00fd antarktick\u00fd \u013ead, ktor\u00fd te\u010die do mora. Thwaites  \u013eadovec m\u00e1 ve\u013ekos\u0165 zhruba ve\u013ekos\u0165 \u0161t\u00e1tu Florida, je jedn\u00fdm z najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00edch zdrojov straty \u013eadu v Antarkt\u00edde a je zodpovedn\u00fd za pribli\u017ene 4% celosvetov\u00e9ho st\u00fapania hladiny mor\u00ed.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nPravidelne prilieva \u013eadovce stovky metrov na stranu do Amundsensk\u00e9ho mora, ale niektor\u00e9 z t\u00fdchto k\u00faskov \u013eadu sa neodn\u00e1\u0161aj\u00fa, povedal nov\u00fd vedec J. Paul Winberry, geofyzik na Univerzite v centr\u00e1lnom Washingtone v Ellensburgu. V\u010faka svojmu tvaru sa prevracaj\u00fa. S\u00fa vy\u0161\u0161ie, ako s\u00fa \u0161irok\u00e9. Minul\u00fd rok Winberry vy\u010des\u00e1vala seizmick\u00e9 \u00fadaje a ne\u00famyselne objavila dve z t\u00fdchto zr\u00e1\u017eok. &#8220;M\u00e1me skuto\u010dne \u0161\u0165astie,&#8221; povedal Winberry. Triangulovan\u00edm sign\u00e1lov zaznamenan\u00fdch siedmimi seizmick\u00fdmi stanicami rozmiestnen\u00fdmi po Z\u00e1padnej Antarkt\u00edde ur\u010dili, \u017ee k udalostiam do\u0161lo na \u010dele Thwaites. T\u00edm s pou\u017eit\u00edm optick\u00fdch a radarov\u00fdch satelitn\u00fdch sn\u00edmok z\u00edskan\u00fdch v priebehu nieko\u013ek\u00fdch min\u00fat po seizmick\u00fdch udalostiach, ku ktor\u00fdm do\u0161lo 8. novembra 2018, t\u00edm to potvrdil.<br \/>\n<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"cento\" src=\"\/image\/thwaites-ice-size.jpg\" alt=\"\u013dadov\u00e9 zemetrasenia v Z\u00e1padnej Antarktide, \u013eadovec Thwaites\" \/><br \/>\nVedci spo\u010d\u00edtali p\u00e4\u0165 kryc\u00edch \u013eadovcov, ich \u013eadov\u00e1 spodn\u00e1 strana je teraz odkryt\u00e1. (V radarov\u00fdch sn\u00edmkach sa tak\u00e9to \u013eadovce javia ako tmav\u00e9 &#8211; \u013ead odr\u00e1\u017ea r\u00e1diov\u00e9 vlny hor\u0161ie ako sneh.) Seizmol\u00f3gia dop\u013a\u0148a satelitn\u00e9 sn\u00edmky, pokia\u013e ide o \u0161t\u00fadium \u013eadovcov, uviedol Lucas Zoet, glaciol\u00f3g z University of Wisconsin &#8211; Madison, ktor\u00fd sa nez\u00fa\u010dast\u0148uje v\u00fdskumu. Satelity dok\u00e1\u017eu z\u00edska\u0165 sn\u00edmky s vysok\u00fdm rozl\u00ed\u0161en\u00edm, ale zvy\u010dajne prech\u00e1dzaj\u00fa cez rovnak\u00e9 miesto na Zemi iba ka\u017ed\u00fdch p\u00e1r dn\u00ed alebo v najlep\u0161om pr\u00edpade ka\u017ed\u00fdch p\u00e1r hod\u00edn.  Na druhej strane seizmologick\u00e9 n\u00e1stroje v\u017edy po\u010d\u00favaj\u00fa. To je d\u00f4le\u017eit\u00e9, povedal, preto\u017ee \u201eskuto\u010dn\u00e1 zauj\u00edmav\u00e1 \u010das\u0165 by sa mohla sta\u0165 za p\u00e1r min\u00fat.\u201c V\u0161etko o \u013eadov\u00fdch policiach. Je to be\u017en\u00e9 v Gr\u00f3nsku, preto\u017ee v\u00e4\u010d\u0161ina \u013eadovcov neobsahuje pl\u00e1vaj\u00face \u013eadov\u00e9 police, uviedol Winberry. Okraj \u013eadovca je uzemnen\u00fd alebo sa dot\u00fdka podlo\u017eia. Thwaites sa jav\u00ed ako anom\u00e1lia. T\u00e1to \u010das\u0165 \u013eadovca Thwaites je odli\u0161n\u00e1 od zvy\u0161ku Antarkt\u00eddy t\u00fdm, \u017ee stratila v\u00e4\u010d\u0161inu svojej pl\u00e1vaj\u00facej \u013eadovej police. &#8220;Mysl\u00edme si, \u017ee sa to stane aj zvy\u0161kom Thwaitu&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>\u013dadov\u00e9 police doslova zavesen\u00e9 na ostrovoch a pod hrebe\u0148mi h\u00f4r pom\u00e1haj\u00fa stabilizova\u0165 \u013eadovce t\u00fdm, \u017ee konaj\u00fa ako buttress. Zauj\u00edmaj\u00fa sa o ur\u010denie mo\u017en\u00fdch sp\u00fa\u0161\u0165ac\u00edch udalost\u00ed, ktor\u00e9 by mohli vies\u0165 k oteleniu, ako s\u00fa ve\u013ek\u00e9 b\u00farky alebo pohyb morsk\u00e9ho \u013eadu.<br \/>\n<br \/>\nKontrolovan\u00e9 expl\u00f3zie pripravuj\u00fa cestu pre v\u00fdskum \u013eadovcov v Thwaites. <strong>Vedci odp\u00e1lia v\u00fdbu\u0161niny v z\u00e1padnom Texase, aby sa pripravili na pr\u00e1cu v ter\u00e9ne v Z\u00e1padnej Antarkt\u00edde.  Thwaites je v s\u00fa\u010dasnosti zodpovedn\u00fd za pribli\u017ene 4% st\u00fapanie hladiny mor\u00ed na celom svete. Niektor\u00ed vedci sa domnievaj\u00fa, \u017ee ak sa Thwaites zr\u00fati, cel\u00e1 \u013eadov\u00e1 pokr\u00fdvka Z\u00e1padnej Antarkt\u00eddy by sa mohla destabilizova\u0165 a rozpadn\u00fa\u0165, \u010d\u00edm by sa zv\u00fd\u0161ila hladina mora o viac ako meter.<\/strong>  Ve\u013ekos\u0165 Thwaite ur\u010duje, ko\u013eko \u013eadu te\u010die do mora, uviedol Slawek Tulaczyk, glaciol\u00f3g z Kalifornskej univerzity v Santa Cruz, a hlavn\u00fd ved\u00faci projektu TIME.
